A well thought out strategic plan sets the course for success (as you define it). Without a strategic plan a practice takes the risk of being manipulated by personal agendas, reactionary behavior and the mindset that throwing money at the symptom of a problem will fix it. A strategic plan provides the foundation needed to develop a business plan, a marketing plan, an IT plan and a communication plan. Once the plans have been established systems need to be developed and implemented so each plan is properly supported and the strategic initiative of the practice can be fulfilled. Without a strategic plan a practice is choosing luck as its strategy for success.
